Hereby reissues this Announcement for the post of Ombudsperson and Principal Deputy Ombudsperson

Application Document

I.

The Ombudsperson Institution is responsible for monitoring, promoting and protecting the rights and freedoms of residents of Kosovo and natural and legal persons in the territory of Kosovo in order to ensure that all such persons are able to exercise effectively the human rights and fundamental freedoms safeguarded by international human rights standards as incorporated in the applicable law.

II.

The Assembly of Kosovo, pursuant to UNMIK Regulation 2006/06, On the Ombudsperson Institution in Kosovo, and Rules of Procedure on the appointment of Ombudsperson and Principal Deputy Ombudsperson, invites all institutions and organizations involved in the monitoring, protection and promotion of human rights and fundamental freedoms in Kosovo to nominate candidates for the positions of Ombudsperson and Principal Deputy Ombudsperson, including individual candidates interested to apply in order to have recommendations given by particular organizations that deal with protection of human rights and freedom.

• Interested entities according to point II of this announcement may nominate more than (1) candidate.

• The Assembly will give special consideration to fulfilling needs of ethnic and gender diversity.

III. Qualifications:

Candidates for each position must be eminent figures of high moral character, impartiality and integrity, who possess a demonstrated commitment to human rights and who are habitual residents of Kosovo.

All nominations and/or individual applications must provide the following documentation:

f) A Curriculum Vitae (C.V.);
g) Letter of motivation by the nominating organization or institution, or by the candidate herself/himself, or both;
h) Completed application form;
i) Evidence of habitual residency;
j) Indication if the candidate is being nominated for the position of Ombudsperson, Principal Deputy, or both. 

Nominations and/or applications must be sent no later than 27 March 2007 at 17:00.
